Announcing the Percepio Detect Early Access Program

Oct 21, 2024 |

Later this fall, Percepio will release Detect, a powerful quality and testing tool designed to enhance systematic testing and observability for embedded software developers. A pre-release version will soon be made available to developers through Percepio’s Detect Early Access Program.

Percepio Detect allows developers to monitor code execution during systematic testing and flag potential issues in real-time. By integrating directly with a local on-premises Detect server, it provides immediate alerts together with relevant forensic metadata, such as trace buffers and core dumps, for efficient root cause analysis.

All monitoring runs on the device and is designed to work on production hardware without debug ports. You only need a basic device connection, like a serial port or Ethernet. Detect does not require continuous data transfer to any host computer or server.

Using Detect alongside Percepio Tracealyzer makes perfect sense. While Tracealyzer can serve as a flight recorder for root cause analysis, Detect adds a proactive warning system and can flag for performance issues ahead of a potential crash. As an example, you will always notice when the watchdog timer times out, but from a quality assurance perspective it’s better to be notified if it breaks defined safety margins.
